Armchair BEA day # 1

I really shouldn't be doing this. Finals are in 2 weeks and I'm buried in homework. But its armchair BEA where it's almost like your there in the book utopia that I imagine real BEA to be. With authors and free books and other bloggers. Sigh. One day maybe I will get to go. I don't know much about BEA or armchair BEA aside the facts above and I probably wont be able to post everyday or even at all after this. So I'm not signed up to the Armchair BEA site. Basically this is my independent Armchair BEA for anyone who wants to read it. I'll be following the daily questions over at the armchair BEA site and posting when I can.

Ok let's pretend where all at BEA. Look at all the books and people. OOOOH AHHHHH.
Random awkward blonde girl walks up to you.
Hi other fellow book person I'm Aurelia. Book blogger and avid reader. Also Writer well depending on your definition of writer I've written a book over 100,000 words long. But I'm not published or anything and I haven't finished the 2nd draft of said book yet.

(the first thing today is to answer 5 questions on myself.)
1.I've been blogging for a little while not sure how long less than I year I think.  Why am I blogging? I am a blogger because I love books and I love talking about them. And sometimes ranting about them this is the place I let my book obsessed self out. Where am I blogging from? Canada. YAY. It's nice up here eh. And contrary to popular belief not always cold. It was around 22C here today. For us that's warm.
2.Describe your blog in just one sentence. Then, list your social details -- Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. -- so we can connect more online.:
Everything books from a book obsessed and slightly weird girl.
I'm not connected to the armchair BEA so I'm not sure if anyone will really see this post. But all my social media sites are in the about me secion.
3.What genre do you read the most?
My favorite genre is YA fantasy,sci-fi,paranormal basically anything fiction and magical.

And one bonus of not signing up to the site. I'm free to break any rules I want so I will not answer 5 questions I'll keep it to 3.  I am such a rebel I know.

The second thing I need to do: Bassically from what I see it's blab about books. This is great because I'm really good at that.

Lets start with some of my current favorite authors.
Cassandra Claire and Jennifer L. Armentrout. There books are so good. If you haven't read anything by them I highly highly suggest you do. There fantastic.
Some authors I really like for personality but aren't necessary my favorites.
Maureen Johnson. If you have twitter and aren't following her you should be she post the best stuff.
Maggie Stiefvater. Again her twitter posts are gold.
Lesley Livingston. I met her a couple of times at book signings and shes just so nice and funny.

Next hmmm. I'm not sure what else to tell you. I also have to get to my homework. Onwards!!!

Thanks for reading

The Dark World by Cara Lynn Shultz

Title: The Dark World
Author: Cara Lynn Shultz
Release date: May 27th 2014
Pages: 348
Publisher: Harlequin Teen

Paige Kelly is used to weird--in fact, she probably corners the market on weird, considering that her best friend, Dottie, has been dead since the 1950s. But when a fire demon attacks Paige in detention, she has to admit that things have gotten out of her league. Luckily, the cute new boy in school, Logan Bradley, is a practiced demon slayer-and he isn't fazed by Paige's propensity to chat with the dead. Suddenly, Paige is smack in the middle of a centuries-old battle between warlocks and demons, learning to fight with a magic sword so that she can defend herself. And if she makes one wrong move, she'll be pulled into the Dark World, an alternate version of our world that's overrun by demons-and she might never make it home
  Description Taken from

I'm going to start by saying that I absolutely adore the randomness and comedy of the dialogue in this book. From the first pages and I mean this literally before knowing what the book was about or anything about the characters I was grinning while reading. I was in history class early like usual and decided to start reading the book and my teacher literally looked at me and said "is it really that funny it doesn't even look like you finished the first chapters yet" and I replied "yes, it really is. I'm not sure if its a kind of humor everyone would find funny but I certainly did. The main character Paige has a kind of snarky/witty/completely random sense of humor that I just love. I'd love to give examples but unfortunately I can't quote the Advanced Readers copy so you'll just have to trust me.Until I can post some quotes from the final in store copy.

Apart from the humor which I must say for me was the highlight of the book Cara Lynn Shultz has also built a very cool world or shall I say two worlds. The idea was a new twist from the smiliar books out there. The world was well explained and interesting and though the back might make it seem like a classical story of a girl that can talk to dead people it really it so much more with back storys a good plot. It's one of those books where you're not sure who to trust if certain characthers are really friend or foe,and that's always fun because it keeps you on your toes never knowing what said characther will do next. The questionning of characthers motives is balanced out by the somewhat stability of paige and her friends.

Now on to the parts I did not like so much there weren't many but a few i'd like to mention I'm not sure if it was just me and I think and it could very well be me just me but I found that the book dragged somewhat often for me, and when I say it's maybe just me it's because there where not particularly any boring parts, things where well structured, the action well paced and a always somewhat present action aspect also a good amount of romance and not too much info dump in one particular part. So that's why it was maybe the mood I was in while reading it but either way I aim to give honest reviews with my honest opinion so I thought I should through that in there.
Another thing to mention in the not so great parts, is not as much a fault but a "letting you know" kind of thing there is a fair bit of violence in this book like severed limbs violence, so if you don't like books with a fair bit of gruesome factor. Now you know. Personally it didn't really bother me that much.

Now on to more things I loved from this book, the characters I found all the characters where very well built and realistic and most somewhat endearing. I really enjoyed Paige's narrative from the situations especially when she goes off on her random comments. It's also kind of interesting that at some parts where there is cheesy moments she realizes that said moment is cheesy but usually just realizes it might be a bit cheesy but it's true.

So to sum up a great book good characthers and humor with magic, action, scary(ish) parts and a biy different writting style that was enjoyable.
